Man Arrested Following Public Order Incident

At around 1 o' clock this afternoon Gardaí responded to an emergency call at Abbey Street.

During the incident, a Garda received injuries to his arm which are believed to be non-life threatening, he has since been taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

The man in his late 30s is currently detained in a Garda Station in the city centre.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí have arrested a man following a public order incident, that occurred at Abbey Street, Dublin 1, this afternoon, Saturday 8th March 2025, at approximately 1pm.

"During the course of the incident, a member of An Garda Síochána received injuries to his arm, believed to be non-life-threatening at this time. He was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment.

"A man (aged in his late 30’s) was arrested at the scene, and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin City Centre area.

"Garda welfare services will be put in place for the Garda member.

"Investigations ongoing."
