Gardaí in Clondalkin and Ballyfermot have arrested a man and seized scramblers, e-bikes and e-scooters.
A search operation took place earlier today.
This operation targeted groups involved in crime using what Gardaí have described as "electric modes of transport."
Gardaí seized 2 electric scooters, 10 e-bikes, 2 stolen motorbikes, 5 scramblers and a quad.
They also found €8,800 in cash, €36,000 worth of cannabis herb and €4,800 worth of Alprazolam tablets.
The main focus was the unlawful use of e-bikes, e-scooters and scramblers, which officers say has caused harm and disruption in Clondalkin and Ballyfermot.
A man was arrested during the operation and is being held at a West Dublin Garda station.
"Determination"
A garda spokesperson says: "On today’s date the 14th of March 2024 a search operation took place coordinated by Gardaí attached to Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations supported by specialist and intelligence units attached to the DMR Metropolitan Region targeting individuals involved in crime utilising electric modes of transport.
"The primary focus of the operation surrounded the unlawful use of e-bikes, scramblers and e-scooters which has caused potential harm and disruption to members of the local communities in the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot area.
"During the course of the operation the following items were seized: • 2 Electric Scooters • 10 Electric Bikes • 2 Stolen High Powered Motorbikes • 5 Scrambler/Motorbikes • 1 Quad Bike • €8,800 Cash believed to be the proceeds of crime • €36,000 Cannabis Herb • €4800 Alprazolam Tablets "During the course of the search operation, a male in his 20s was arrested and is currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in West Dublin." Chief Superintendent McNulty of the DMR West Division says: "The actions of Gardaí in this operation is a testament to their ongoing determination in targeting those who are causing harm and disruption to our communities on a daily basis.
