A man and a woman have been arrested in Dublin in connection with an investigation into fraud.
Gardai carried out two search operations in Finglas and Adamstown yesterday as part of an investigation into the laundering of proceeds of smishing and business email compromise frauds.
A man, aged 27, and a woman, aged 25, were arrested at the scene.
They're being questioned at Irishtown Garda station, where they can be held for up to seven days.
A garda spokesperson says: "As part of an investigation into the laundering of the proceeds of smishing and business email compromise (BEC) frauds, Gardaí attached to the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) conducted two search operations in Finglas and Adamstown yesterday morning Monday 30th May, 2022.
"The search was conducted as part of Operation SKEIN. During the course of the searches a man, aged 27 years, and a woman, aged 25 years, were arrested at the scene for offences pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, 2006. "Both persons are now detained under the provisions of Section 50, Criminal Justice Act, 2007, as amended at Irishtown Garda station and can be detained for up to seven days.
