Dublin City Council has appointed a design team for the College Green Dame Street Public Realm Project.
In a statement DCC says:
"This project aims to transform the historic city core, delivering a welcoming, safe and vibrant pedestrian-friendly space at the heart of Dublin City, which prioritises universal accessibility, social inclusion, safety, sustainability, biodiversity and greening, while restoring and enhancing the history and heritage of this unique location."
The city council had selected Irish firm, Scott Tallon Walker Architects, in partnership with OKRA, an Urban & Landscape Design practice from the Netherlands, as the joint lead designers.
The appointment is the result of a two-stage EU procurement competition, which attracted significant international interest with submissions from Ireland, the UK, the USA and Europe.
Dublin City Council in cooperation with the newly appointed Design Team will bring the project through the various project stages including stakeholder engagement, design, planning and construction.
When complete the development will extend from South Great Georges Street to Trinity College.
