A plan to erect a statue of Luke Kelly near where he was born and raised in Dublin has been given the go ahead.
A bust of The Dubliners singer will be unveiled on Guild Street in the North Inner City on January 30th.
Dublin City Councillor, Christy Burke, said the statue been fourteen years in the making. He commissioned the piece during his year as Lord Mayor.
He described it as a "modern piece", with "the beard and a head of red curly hair".
"It's the least Luke deserves; a legend a master, an ambassador... a great musician", Councillor Burke said.
President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina, who was bridesmaid at Luke's wedding, will be invited to the official unveiling in January.
