A site of more that 40 acres in Lucan designated for almost 900 apartments has been handed back to the local council.
Shelbourne Development acquired the land near Adamstown in 2006 however the firm went into receivership in 2011.
Following negotiations, it has been agreed between the company, South Dublin Co. Council and NAMA that the lands be returned.
