Luas passengers will soon be able to choose if they want a receipt or not.
The company that runs the trams says ticket vending machines will be updated in the coming months to provide the option.
It follows concerns from a number of groups that receipts automatically printed after paper tickets are rarely collected, and cause a mess.

Grame McQueen from Dublin Chamber has hailed the decision as a "really positive move".
