The local lockdown for Co Kildare will be extended for two weeks.
However, the restrictions for Laois and Offaly are being lifted.
Health officials said the restrictions in Kildare are being extended as the number of COVID-19 cases in the county remain high.
Leo Varadkar says he realises the news is 'disappointing', but has pledged the Government will provide further assistance to businesses in the county.
In a statement, Leo Varadkar said: "It has been a devastating few months for business owners, their staff and families. By extending these restrictions now, we will avoid further, more damaging measures later on.
"We must do everything we can to protect people. The people of Kildare are making a sacrifice on behalf of the entire country. I recognise that and we are redoubling our efforts to help businesses.”
A number of measures are set to be 'stepped up' - including a 20% top-up to the existing restart grant.
Kildare has continued to see a significant number of new COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, with several days seeing the county having more confirmed cases than anywhere else in the country.
