Level 5 would mean the country would return to a lockdown similar to the restrictions in April, May and June.
The only difference would be that schools and creches can remain open.
Donegal and Dublin are currently on Level 3 of the Living with Covid-19 plan, the rest of the country remains at Level 2.
On Thursday, the National Public Health Emergency Team said the situation did not support moving to Level 3 on a national basis.
However, after an emergency meeting of NPHET at the weekend, it's recommended that the whole country moves to Level 5.
Level 5
This means no household visits inside or outside.
People can only exercise within 5 kilometres of their home.
Only essential retail, like supermarkets, can remain open.
Bars and restaurants can operate takeaway only
Only 6 guests can attend weddings, while 10 mourners can attend a funeral.
And mass will move back to online only.
Schools, creches and higher and adult education facilities can all remain open with protective measures in place.
Level 5 would mean:
🏠 Stay home & work from there
💃 No social or family gatherings
🚴🏻 Exercise within 5km of your home
👰 6 at weddings
⚰️ 10 at funerals
🛍 Non-essential retail closed
🍔 Cafes/restaurants takeaway only
