Ketamine Worth €249,000 Seized In Stoneybatter

Almost a quarter of a million euro worth of Ketamine has been seized in Stoneybatter.

Over four kilograms of the drug was found following the search of a building today.

The drugs were hidden in a barbeque set.

A man in his late 20s has been arrested and is being questioned at Store Street Garda station.
A garda spokesperson says: "As part of ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the Dublin 7 area, a joint operation was conducted by personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the DMR North Central Divisional Drugs Unit, today, Wednesday 2nd November 2022.

"During the course of this operation a premises was searched in the Stoneybatter area resulting in the recovery of 4.15 Kgs of Ketamine with an estimated street value of €249,000.  The drugs were concealed inside a barbeque set and were seized by Revenue Officers.
"The drugs will be sent for further analysis.
"Gardaí arrested a male aged in his late 20s.  He is currently detained at Store Street Garda station pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996."

A Revenue spokesperson says: "Today, as part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized over 4kgs of ketamine with an estimated value of €249,000, following the search of a residential premises, under warrant, in the Stoneybatter area of Dublin 7. The drugs were discovered concealed inside a barbeque set.

"The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the DMR North Central Divisional Drugs Unit.

"A man in his 20s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Store Street Garda station.

"Investigations are ongoing."
