It's official - Kenneth Egan is stepping into the ring for Fine Gael.
The Olympic boxer will be fighting in this summer's local elections in Clondalkin.
The 32-year-old will run for a spot on South Dublin County Council for Fine Gael.
The Clondalkin man says he won't be relying on his name to get him through, and will be actively campaigning.
