The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering Laois nanny Aoife Phelan will resume its deliberations later this morning.
They've been asked to consider whether 25-year-old Robert Corbet of Sheffield Cross, Portlaoise intended to kill her during a row in 2012.
Robert Corbet admits strangling Aoife Phelan in his garage on October 25th 2012 but he claims he didn't mean to kill her.
Her body was found inside a barrel buried ten feet below his property almost two weeks later.
From the stand earlier this week, he said he "saw red" after she threatened to ruin his life if he didn't face up to her pregnancy.
An autopsy has since shown she was not pregnant.
Yesterday, the jurors were asked to consider if it was reasonably possible that he totally lost self-control and if so, a verdict of manslaughter was open to them.
They're due to begin a second day of deliberations today.
