There's shock after a judge said that he thinks Muslims feel they can beat their wives.
The comment was made in a Tallaght court yesterday.
Judge Anthony Halpin told the packed court that he thinks "Muslims feel that they can actually beat their wives".
His remark was made during the trial of a Somali man accused of burgling his former wife's home.
The Immigrant Council of Ireland has called on the judge to clarify or withdraw the remark.
This is the latest controversial comment from Judge Halpin, in January he suggested that the civil defence be brought in to help police Tallaght.
