Gardai are on the hunt for two men in connection with the attempted assassination of John Gilligan.
The convicted drug dealer was shot several times at his brother's home in west Dublin yesterday evening.
This attempt on John Gilligan's life happened while he was attending a family get together at his brother's house in Clondalkin.
The house, located at Greensfort Crescent, is the same place he first visited after his release from Portlaoise Prison last October.
Two masked men entered the house at around 7pm and he was shot at least twice in the chest and leg.
His head was also grazed by a bullet and he was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he's being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A Garda investigation is now underway and detectives are on the hunt for the two gunmen who fled in a car that was waiting nearby.
Gilligan had been warned his life was in danger after a gunman went into a pub looking for him last December.
He'd only been released from prison two months beforehand after serving 17 years for drug dealing.
