Jewellery Worth €50,000 Stolen In City Centre Burglary

Jewellery worth €50,000 has been stolen during a burglary on Kildare Street in the early hours of this morning.

A man in his 30s has been arrested.

Officers received a call about a burglary at a business premises on Kildare Street at 2.45am, and arrived to see a suspect running from the scene.

Gardai chased the man and arrested him in St Stephens Green.

The park was sealed off to allow for a search in daylight, and at around 6am gardai located the bag and its contents - jewellery with an estimated value of €50,000.

The man in 30s is being questioned at a garda station in the city where he can be held for up to 24 hours.

Investigation

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí in Pearse Street have arrested a man in his 30s this morning following a burglary at a business premises on the morning of Friday, 25th of April 2025.

"At approximately 2:45am, Gardaí responded to reports of a burglary at a retail premises on Kildare Street, Dublin 2.

"On arrival, they encountered a suspect and he fled the scene on foot.

"He was observed entering St. Stephen’s Green park and pursued by Gardaí on foot.

"The man was apprehended by Gardaí in the park and arrested.

"He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in Dublin in connection with this incident.

"Gardaí sealed St. Stephen’s Green park for the purpose of conducting a search of the area in daylight for the stolen jewellery.

"At approximately 6am, Gardaí completing a search of the park located a bag and its contents.

"The jewellery stolen in this incident and now recovered by Gardaí is estimated to be to the value of €50,000.

"Investigations are ongoing."
