The Garda Commissioner's described the shooting of a six-year-old boy in Ballyfermot last weekend as an absolutely appalling crime.
Noirin O'Sullivan's comments come after the child was shot outside a house in the Croftwood Gardens housing estate on Friday night.
The Commissioner says the inquiry into the incident is continuing:
