The green light has been given for Ireland's first ever Velodrome.

As Olympic fever rolls on, athletes here are been given a boost with a new Velodrome and Badminton Centre approved for the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown.

It will include a 250 metre indoor cycling track and up to 12 state-of-the-art Badminton Courts, along with spectator seating and other facilities.

The investment means track cyclists will no longer have to travel abroad to train.

The project will now go to tender and is set to be completed in 2027.
