Ireland's first baby of the New Year was born at almost the stroke of midnight here in Dublin.
The healthy baby girl - named Emily - was delivered at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street at about five seconds past midnight, weighing seven pounds nine ounces.
Meanwhile in the Rotunda, a baby boy was delivered at 24 minutes past midnight - weighing in at just over seven pounds.
