Investigations are ongoing after the alleged assault of a Ukrainian actor who travelled to Ireland.
The incident happened on Saturday night in Dublin. Gardai from Store Street responded to reports of an incident on Eden Quay late on Saturday night.
They say a man in his 20s was taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The man has been named by TDs and Colleagues as Oleksandr Hrekov.
The Abbey Theatre condemned the alleged attack on him as a "random act of mindless violence" that left him needing stitches and hospital treatment.
It has saddened us all greatly that an artist invited to Ireland by us, particularly an artist coming from a war zone for a brief moment of respite, should have experienced this ❤️ pic.twitter.com/VDa1AGV5H9

He travelled to Ireland in a theatre company crew of 27 to perform in Brian Friel's "Translations".
He's understood to be out of hospital and travelling back to Kyiv.
Arts Minister Catherine Martin condemned the attack, calling it "cowardly" and wished the actor a full recovery.
