Gardai are continuing to examine a handgun found in a wheelie bin close to the scene of Thursday's fatal shooting in Dublin's north inner city.
24-year-old Martin O’Rourke was killed after being shot six times on Sheriff Street.
Gardai are now investigating whether the shooting is part of the ongoing Kinahan-Hutch feud which has seen four fatal shootings in Dublin in recent months.
However, they believe Mr O’Rourke was not the intended target and that the killing was a case of mistaken identity.
