An investigation is underway into the alleged rape of a female member of the Defence Forces by a male colleague..
It’s alleged to have happened at a Dublin hotel being used for mandatory hotel quarantine on Monday night.
A forensic exam of the scene has taken place and the victim has been treated at a sexual assault unit.
The Defence Forces provide staff at six designated Mandatory Hotel Quarantine Facilities. Members are onsite 24/7 at the facilities to help those in quarantine and to ensure it's a safe and comfortable experience.
Gardai say their investigation in to the alleged assault is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
The Defence Forces have also issued a brief statement.
"Óglaigh na hÉireann are aware of an alleged incident that recently took place in a hotel that is currently in use for the purpose of Mandatory Hotel Quarantine. As the matter is the subject of an ongoing Garda investigation, it is inappropriate and not possible for us to comment any further."
