Nurses say hospital overcrowding has led to an increase in violence and threats toward them.
Victims will give their personal experiences at the INMO's annual conference in Sligo, which begins today.
There were over 3,700 attacks on nurses in the HSE last year.
Phil Ni Sheaghdha, General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, says the problem is getting worse;
"We have some very serious physical injuries, we have a lot of psychological issues due to aggression and we've had threatening behaviour towards nurses, threats to follow them out to the carpark and I know where you live and this type of thing."
She says they're dealing with a situation where people are getting increasingly frustrated at long waits in hospitals.
