The PSNI is consulting with the Public Prosecution service in the North, after the death of a three month old baby girl.
The infant died in hospital in Belfast, hours after her father appeared in court charged with causing her grievous bodily harm.
The child had been in a critical condition at the Royal Victoria hospital since being admitted on Wednesday night.
