Illegal tobacco worth over €5m has been seized at Dublin Port.
Revenue officers seized over 6,000 kilos of tobacco yesterday in a container in a vehicle which had come from Rotterdam.
The investigation is continuing.
A Revenue spokesperson says: "Yesterday (11/03/2024), as a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers seized approximately 6,090 kgs of tobacco with an estimated value of over €5,021,800 at Dublin Port.
"The illicit tobacco, branded ‘Flandria’, was discovered in a container within a vehicle which had arrived from Rotterdam, the Netherlands and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €3,770,800.
"Investigations are ongoing."
