The Irish equivalent of the Oscars is taking place tonight.

Michael Fassbender, Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Saoirse Ronan are among the stars expected to attend the IFTA awards.

The annual Irish Film and Television Awards Ceremony is the biggest industry night of the year, celebrating the ongoing success of the sector and the growing resource of Irish talent both in front - and behind - the screen.

The 11th annual IFTA awards will be given out at a glitzy ceremony, which is being held back on the Burlington Road in Dublin.

Nominees include Oscar winning director Neil Jordan; Oscar nominated actor Michael Fassbender for 12 years a Slave, and Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell for Saving Mr Banks.

The ceremony will be hosted by Simon Delaney and Laura Whitmore, with Steve Coogan and Jeremy Irons presenting individual awards.
