The director of the HSE's National Ambulance Service is to be called before Dublin city councillors.

Its over the HSE's plan to take control of ambulances away from Dublin Fire Brigade by the end of next year.

Councillors have agreed to ask the head of the HSE's Ambulance Service Martin Dunne to answer questions over its intentions towards the service provided by Dublin Fire Brigade.

It emerged earlier this week that a HSE plan to take over ambulance provision, was drawn up before a review of services in the city was announced last month.

The controversial move has caused outrage among councillors and interested parties.

Martin Dunne will be asked to appear before the council on April 3rd.
