The country is in a "precarious" situation, and how Covid-19 will spread over the next week is now uncertain.
That's according to public health officials, who are warning the cases which will be reported over the next seven days have already been seeded.
21 further cases have been recorded, bringing the total to 25,698. While the death toll now stands at 1,749.
Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ronan Glynn, is appealing to people to redouble their efforts over the next week;
"We're in a time of uncertainty in relation to this disease so we're not sure what we are going to see next week. The point is that the die has already been cast but what we have control over is the cases that we'll see the week after and the week after that."
Second wave
Meanwhile the Covid-19 committee will today hear that 20 per cent spare bed capacity's needed in the health service, to deal with a second wave.
The Irish Medical Organisation will say politicians have failed to grasp the huge effect the pandemic has had.
It will say patients conditions' are deteriorating as they wait for non-Covid related treatment.
