The Health Minister has ruled out a full return to working from home, despite health officials saying it’s up for discussion.

The National Public Health Emergency Team is meeting this afternoon as Covid case numbers continue to escalate.

Around 1 in every 200 people tested positive for Covid 19 over the past two weeks.

NPHET will consider the high escalation in cases at a meeting later with a return to full remote working on the agenda.

But Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says it’s not being considered by Government.

New HPSC figures show 24 covid outbreaks over the past week were linked to workplaces. But John Barry from ISME’s National Council believes they’re generally safe.

The Health Minister’s also said extending the vaccine certs to places like hairdressers and gyms isn’t being considered but the Chief Medical Officer’s said it’s something he’d support.

The CMO will issue his latest advice to the Health Minister Following NPHETs meeting,.

Health officials and the Government are now calling on people to reduce their social contacts.
