Minister Simon Harris says the government stands behind Stephen Donnelly after the latest communications blunder over the vaccine roll-out.
It's after it was confirmed there won't be further changes to the vaccine priority plan.
On Saturday the Health Minister made the suggestion that the roll-out plan could be changed again to see under 30s given the jab before those aged 30-50.
It hung in the air for 24 hours before Minister Donnelly ruled it out.
But the uncertainty led to anger from many and the Minister has been accused of flying kites by some government TDs.
It's not the first time poor communication from Stephen Donnelly have led to ire and confusion.
But his predecessor Simon Harris says the government is backing him.
Minister Harris also said the government will provide a clear roadmap next week for how restrictions will ease over the coming months.
