Government Reaches Agreement On Water Charges

The Taoiseach's confirmed that the coalition parties have reached an agreement on water charges.

The proposed deal will mean the standing charge is scrapped, while certain homes will be given a larger free allowance than others.

Average bills are expected to come in at around 240 euro a year.

Ministers will sign off on the agreement at this morning's cabinet meeting.

Speaking to our political correspondent on his way into Government Buildings Enda Kenny confirmed a deal had been done and said the charge will be as fair as it can be:
