A special meeting has been held to address concerns about an ongoing protest outside Google's Dublin headquarters.

The demonstration was initially started by Gemma O'Doherty, who is accusing the company of censorship after it banned her from YouTube.

Local Gardai and Councillors met today to discuss complaints about the protest from staff and local residents.

Google was not invited to the discussions.

Ringsend Councillor Danny Byrne says, while people have a right to protest, they must do so peacefully:

"We will work together to hopefully end the protest in the form that it has been in the past number of weeks".

Councillor Byrne says "a lot of residents" have complained to him about the protest on Barrow Street.

"I have absolutely no issue with people protesting peacefully", he said.

Gardaí said those taking part in the demonstration have been told they are free to protest "as long as their actions do not breach the public order act".

As yet, no arrests or official interventions have taken place.

Gardai are advising "anyone with information or with concerns about those engaged in unlawful activity to report the matter".
