Gardaí are appealing to people who've had jewellery stolen to check their website, to see if one of their items has been recovered.

It's after officers at Crumlin Garda Station discovered €165,000 worth of jewellery at a house in the greater Tallaght area.

45 wrist and pocket watches, 32 rings and €55,000 worth of diamonds are among the items recovered by Gardaí in a house in west Dublin.

During the searches a significant volume of precious stones, removed from original jewellery items, were also recovered.

Officers believe the goods were stolen in burglaries across the country, or even from abroad.

Inspector Jason Miley says their priority now is reuniting the items with their rightful owners.

Gardaí say they're following a definite line of enquiry.

Officers say members of the public seeking further information are advised to contact Crumlin Garda Station 01-6666200. Their contact details will be taken, quoting the reference numbers to item of jewellery, and a member of the investigation team will return contact with them.
