Gardaí on the southside have arrested one man and seized a machine pistol.
The Mach type firearm was discovered when the force stopped a car in Shankhill yesterday evening.
Officers from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau were assisted by Emergency Response Unit members.
The man, who is in his 40s, has been detained at a Garda Station in the area.
