One man was forced to hand over his phone, bank card, and PIN when threatened with a knife, and a sum of money was later taken from his account.
A garda operation was set up after a number of thefts along the Grand Canal last week particularly in the morning time.
Knife
In one incident, last Friday at around 7am, a man who was cycling to work was stopped and threatened by three men.
A knife was produced and the victim was forced to hand over his phone and bankcard, and his PIN, with money later taken from his account.
Gardai set up an operation in the area and yesterday morning at 6.15, prevented an attempted robbery near Park West, and arrested a man in his 20s and a teenage boy nearby.
They've been charged and are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice today.
Gardai are appealing for people who were in the Grand Canal area between 6 and 7am on Monday 1st and Friday 5th February to contact them.
