An investigation is underway into the second case of animal mutilation in Dublin this week.
A decapitated cat was discovered on a green in Ballyboden in South Dublin yesterday.
It follows the discovery of a dog in a bin at an apartment complex in Clondalkin on Monday.
Gardai and the DSPCA are investigating both incidents.
A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí are investigating a suspected incident of animal cruelty following the discovery of a dead cat in the Ballyboden Crescent area of Ballyboden, Dublin 16, on the morning of Thursday, 31st March.
"No arrests have been made at this stage of this ongoing investigation."

The DSPCA says: "Yesterday afternoon, a DSPCA Inspector was called to a green area in the Ballyboden part of South Dublin where a cats body had been dumped.
"The cat, a tabby and white female, had been decapitated and the head was not found at the scene.
"This is the second case of a mutilated animal in Dublin in less than a week. The DSPCA and Rathfarnham Gardai are investigating and are calling on anyone who saw something suspicious or who may have any CCTV footage to contact Rathfarnham Garda Station as soon as possible.
"Earlier this week, the decapitated body of a large bull terrier dog was discovered in the Clondalkin area. The DSPCA and gardaí at Clondalkin Garda Station are investigating."
