A man in his 50s has been arrested after a man was shot in the Hazel Grove area of Tallaght this afternoon.
The victim who is in his 30s was walking his dog at the time of the incident.
He is in a critical condition in Tallaght hospital, while it's understood his dog died at the scene.
A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a firearms incident which occurred at approximately 1pm this afternoon, Tuesday, 22nd February 2022 in the Tallaght area of Dublin.
"The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination to be conducted by the Garda Technical Bureau.
"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information who may have been the Hazel Grove area of Tallaght to come forward.
