A ban on cars along another one of Dublin city centre's streets looks a step closer.
Councillors have agreed the full pedestrianisation of South William Street will be an objective as part of the new city development plan. The wide ranging document will run from 2022 to 2028.
Traffic has been banned along part of the popular stretch as part of trial runs.
Green Party councillor Claire Byrne says they can't be held hostage by one shop and it's carpark;
"One of the biggest barriers has been the Brown Thomas carpark which is now known as the Grafton Street carpark. Their exit comes onto the bottom of South William Street. What we've been pushing for is to request that cars coming out of the carpark simply turn right and then go round the bottom of Wicklow Street and up Clarendon Street."
