French media have reported the allege abduction and rape of Irish woman in Bordeaux.
The 37 year old woman was in the area for the Rugby World Cup when she was attacked by three men last night near her accommodation.
She was taken to hospital in Bordeaux and has been referred to a victim support group.
Police are reportedly searching for the three men, while the Bordeaux public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation.
Members of An Garda Síochana who are in France are working with local authorities but add that the investigation is a matter for the French police.
In a statement a Garda spokesperson said:
"Members of An Garda Síochána currently deployed in France for the duration of the Rugby World Cup tournament to assist Irish people visiting France are liaising with local authorities in relation to an alleged incident."
