Frank Flannery has resigned from Rehab.
The former Chief Executive has been under fire as controversy surrounds how the charity has been spending public money.
Mr Flannery has so far refused all calls to appear before the Public Accounts Committee to explain.
In a statement this evening he says he's stepping down because he wants to avoid poltical controversy for Rehab.
He's also resigned as Fine Gael's Director of Elections and as a trustee for the party, but says he will continue to support the party as a private citizen.
