Fraction Of Motorists Clamped In Dublin Get Refund

Only a fraction of motorists received a refund after being clamped in Dublin last year.

Out of 56 thousand cars clamped, 1.6 percent got their money back on appeal.

A total of 916 motorists were given back the 80 euro release fee after contacting Dublin City Council.

Three thousand 508 appeal cases were decided last year with 2592 turned down.

The most clamped street was Merrion Square West followed by Mespil Road, Dominic Street Lower, Ormond Quay Upper and Jervis Street.

Over 22,500 cars were clamped for not displaying a parking ticket or permit, over 8700 were targeted for staying over time.
