A Trinity graduate and three others arrested outside the home of a gun dealer have been jailed for a combined total of 25 years.
Ursula Shannon of Inglewood Crescent, Clonsilla and co-accused John McGreal, John Troy and Colin Brady were sentenced at the Special Criminal Court.
The non-jury court heard the accused were wearing wigs and disguises when they were stopped by armed Gardai in November 2012.
They were caught with two handguns, a stun gun and some ammunition outside a house that doubled as a business for a licensed gun seller in Co. Offaly
The prosecution claimed they planned to rob the dealer's shop and steal his guns.
Today, Ursula Shannon, a 30-year-old PhD student, Trinity graduate and member of socialist republican group Eirigi was jailed for six years.
Co-accused John McGreal of Thornchase, Palmer Road, Rush and Colin Brady of Ashgrove, Baskin Lane, Kinsealy received the same sentences.
John Troy, a master butcher of Dunard Avenue in Cabra, who runs the well-known Troy's butchers on Moore Street was also sentenced toady.
He was jailed for seven years for various firearms offences and for being a member of the IRA.
