Forecasters are warning of heavy rain in Dublin this morning, with the potential for flooding.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall alert for the capital, along with Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

The alert kicked in overnight and will last until 2pm this afternoon.

The weather organisation says heavy downpours overnight and into this morning may result in some river and spot flooding.

A yellow wind alert is also in place in Clare, Cork and Kerry until midday.

Dublin forecast

It is expected to stay cool tonight with showers. While tomorrow will be bright, fresh and breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Met Éireann says the national outlook is for cool and changeable weather but with good autumn sunshine at times.
