Over 400 people were tested at a walk-in Covid-19 centre by lunchtime today.
Five centres opened this morning in areas with high incidence rates.
Within an hour of opening 100 swabs had been taken across the five new walk- in centres.
They're located in Blanchardstown, Tallaght, Irishtown and Grangegorman in Dublin, and Tullamore in Co Offaly.
Anyone over the age of 16, who lives within 5km of a centre, is asymptomatic and has not tested positive in the last six months can use the service.
The HSE says testing people with no symptoms will help to find positive cases of Covid-19 and break the chains of transmission.
