Two fire engines remain at the scene of a fire in Rathgar.
It broke out at a motorbike repair shop shortly after 10 this morning.
One person was taken to hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.
A turntable ladder was deployed earlier this afternoon to tackle the fire from above.
Locals reported hearing an explosion before thick smoke engulfed the area.
Orla McHugh, owns a counselling and psychotherapy centre nearby;
"The therapists that were working said they heard an explosion," she said.
"It's behind our practice, there was an explosion, a big bang - then the fire and smoke started billowing."
"They [the therapists] evacuated the building [the practice] and they couldn't even see what was on fire there was that much smoke."
Locals and passers by have been advised to avoid the area, with road closures in place on the Terenure Road East, Highfield Road and Orwell Road.
DFB also says smoke is moving across the area and may affect people nearby.
