Around a fifth of applications for a scheme to keep renters in their homes are not progressing in South Dublin.
The tenant-in-situ scheme allows landlords to sell their properties to their Local Authority at market rates so renters can stay in their property.
The Government pitched the tenant-in-situ scheme as one of the solutions against concerns about a wave of evictions when the eviction ban ended.
However in South Dublin County Council, 37 out of 199 applications are not progressing according to the Irish Independent.
Sinn Fein's Housing Spokesperson Eoin O'Broin has expressed concerns about why 18 per cent of the cases are being stalled.
He's worried that if landlords think there will be delays, they will opt to sell their property on the open market instead.
One landlord told the TD she had offered her house up for sell to the Council in September.
She has been told it will take another two months to sell but feels the house would be already be sold if she had put it on the open market instead.
