Fianna Fail have tabled a Motion of No Confidence in the Justice Minister.
Alan Shatter's position will be debated in the Dail next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Micheal Martin is appealing to Government TD's to 'reflect' before automatically voting against a no confidence motion in Alan Shatter.
Deputy Martin says the Minister has been 'running scared' over the litany of controversies involving Garda bugging claims, the retirement of Commissioner Martin Callinan and the whistleblower saga.
He says at the very least the no confidence motion will allow for a proper debate.
"We actually only had about two opportunities in Leaders Questions, on Tuesday and Wednesday, to actually raise these issues. There was no debate, Justice Committee wasn't around. We have a duty to have a genuine debate on these issues and we're using our private members motion to do that. In addition, I think I would like members of the Government parties to reflect on the issues and to look into their own situation and speak and vote accordingly."
