Rope Removed from Ballymun Building Used For Absailing

Dublin City Council has confirmed that a rope has been removed from a delelict Ballymun building being used by children to absail down.

The council also says that extra security measures are being put in place and gardai are patrolling the area.

The Community Policing Unit have also been informed and will raise the issue with community leaders.

The shocking video came to public attention exclusively on 98fms Dublin Talks with Adrian and Jeremy.

If you haven't see the footage it shows children dangerously swinging out of a 7 storey flat complex and sliding down a rope.

Clodagh was one of the girls in the video and spoke exclusively to 98fm..

Dublin City Council can confirm that it is responsible for the property in question.

The property is not occupied and has been boarded up in advance of demolition.

A perimeter fence surrounds the property

Dublin City Council became aware of the incident on 25th May.

We immediately contacted the Gardai who have undertaken to patrol the area.

The Community Policing Unit have also been informed and will undertake patrols and raise the issue with community leaders.

Dublin City Council is also making arrangements for further security measures to be put in place.
