The Minister for Energy has defended Ireland's main electricity supply after the Christmas power outages.
Over 100,000 ESB customers lost their electricity in storms that sprung up on Stephen's Day.
The final 800 homes and businesses were left in the dark until last night.
However Pat Rabbitte has praised the repair crews who worked 'selflessly' over the Christmas holidays to reconnect people.
He says the system we have is still fit for purpose:
