Lawyers for Empire actor Jussie Smollett has spoken out after he was accused of faking a racist and homophobic attack.
It's emerged that the 36-year-old has been charged with making a false police report, after he claimed to be the victim of an assault last month.
Two brothers who detectives had previously believed to be suspects, have made statements in relation to the incident.
Their lawyer Gloria Schmidt is calling for the actor to tell the full story. She said: 'I think that Jussie's conscious is not letting him sleep right now. So I think he should tell the American people what actually happened'.
It's now emerged that one of the brothers was Smollett's personal trainer.
Furthermore, the Chicago Tribune reported that Smollett follows their bodybuilding page on Instagram.
Smollett's lawyer released a statement over the weekend.
It said: 'Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with.
'He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack.
'Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.'
