Gerry Murphy from Met Éireann says the heavy rainfall overnight was particularly bad for the Dublin region:
"Last night brought really torrential rain to some places and the area in the country that got the most rainfall was actually the Dublin region. So 44 millimeters of rainfall fell overnight at Dublin Airport".
Irish Rail had suspended all services between Killester and Clontarf Road earlier in the day, but these are now back up and running with delays.
